Locality is expensive.

The AI/system stack cost $100.10 during the trip window. Moving the human cost $1,123.26 as posted — 11.2× as much. The point is not that software is free. It is that embodiment is the expensive edge.

Accounting boundary: “posted” human travel and “core” AI/system spend are separate measures in the source sheet. Pending human authorizations shown in the recording add $3.98, bringing the possible human battery to $1,127.24. This page does not treat that pending amount as settled.

Two compressed experiences became one more accessible artifact.

In Austin, Leo describes meeting someone six years into a research project who had compressed it into a two-and-a-half-hour video. Two hours of Leo’s own accumulated context plus that video became a site that brought the research, source material, and navigation into one place.

That is the experiment: not AI as a replacement for the person, but AI as a lever on human connection. The travel is the costly part. The relationship is the reason to incur it.

The $1,000 grant funds the attempt to get out of the online bubble.

The comparison: human movement is materially more expensive than keeping the AI system running.

The artifact: two long research compressions become one navigable public site.

The next battery: larger trips, more people, and a $10K target across Austin, San Francisco, and New York.
